December Newsletter

President’s Corner

Spouses,

December is upon us already! Happy Holidays!

Please help us make Christmas a bit brighter for the deployed VQ-4 crews. We are preparing stockings for each crew member, and we are seeking donations from the NOSC. Thank you in advance for your generosity. See the 12/1 email for information about drop off locations, or contact us at shadownosc@yahoo.com.

We are getting excited for the Squadron Christmas party on Thursday, 12/8. Looking forward to seeing you there! Also, please save the date for the Children's Christmas party on Saturday, 12/17. Santa will be visiting the children and bringing gifts! There will be many volunteer opportunities associated with this party - shoppers, bakers, craft/game workers, and volunteers to expedite for Santa. We can't wait!

Take care,
Katie

November Newsletter

President’s Corner

Spouses,

Happy November, and happy Military Family Month!

"During Military Family Month, we celebrate the exceptional service, strength, and sacrifice of our military families, whose commitment to our Nation goes above and beyond the call of duty. Just as our troops embody the courage and character that make America's military the finest in the world, their family members embody the resilience and generosity that make our communities strong. They serve with heroism in their homes and neighborhoods while they are without the comfort of having loved ones nearby." (President Obama)

We have many opportunities for NOSC spouses to share in the spirit of the season this month, including our fundraiser lunch which will raise funds for the NOSC and the baskets to be sent out with deployed crews over the coming holidays. Please watch your inbox for details...we will need YOUR help!

Stay tuned for more opportunities to support our servicemembers, families, and NOSC! We know that being a military family is not always easy, and we are here to support you now and always.

Cheers,
Katie

October Newsletter

President’s Corner

Hello,

Happy fall! Stay tuned for lots of events coming up with the NOSC - playdates, nights out, fundraisers, etc. Much like the chili fundraisers in the past, we will begin selling lunches at the squadron once a month beginning in November. Stay tuned for dates as we will need volunteers to sell food as well as cook!

Speaking of cooking, if you haven't yet submitted your recipes, it is NOT too late, but you are running out of time. We need your help! Recipes should be submitted here. (Contributor: your name, Group Login: ShadowNOSC, Password: shadow) or email/give them to Erika (erikajepperson@gmail.com) or Nicole (ntchandler80@gmail.com).

You may have noticed that Sunday night dinners have dropped off in recent weeks. This is because we don't have any volunteers! :( If your spouse will be out of town or on watch, plan ahead to have some families over. You can choose to provide dinner or to host a potluck. "The more we get together, the happier we'll be!"

Cheers,
Katie

Our NOSC Cookbook

Hey Ladies,

Well, as many of you heard at the Pink Lady party on Saturday, we will be putting a cookbook together over the next couple of months as a fundraiser. I know so many of you have delicious recipes and this is a great way to share them with others. Our goal is to collect 200 recipes to go into the book. We have already started collecting recipes and will continue collecting them until September 1st. We will submit the book into the publishing company by October 1st, so we can have the cookbooks ready to sell in time for the holidays. Many of you wondered if there was a way to submit your recipes directly online to the publishing company, so now you have three easy ways to submit your recipes.

#1 On-line Submission: Go www.typensave.com. Click on the login button. Contributor will be the name of the individual submitting the recipe. Group Login is ShadowNOSC (no spaces). Password is shadow. Once you are logged in click on add recipe and you are ready to go.

#2 Email Us: You can email us your recipe directly. You may used the attached recipe collection sheet or type it up on a word document. Emails can be sent to Erika Jepperson (erikajepperson@gmail.com) or Nicole Chandler (ntchandler80@gmail.com).

#3 Paper: You may print off the recipe collection sheet or pick some up at any NOSC event. You may type it up hand write it. We will be collecting them at all NOSC events or you could always send it to work with your husband.

So, however you decide to submit your recipe it up to you. You can submit up to 5 recipes! The more the merrier! Please check out the Instructions on the attached recipe collection sheet for some simple steps to ensure your recipe is submitted properly. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Thank you so much for your participation.
